Click on image for larger view<\/figcaption><\/figure>\n<p>See image above.\u00a0 NO2, and VOC&#8217;s are produced as part of pollution, or smog.\u00a0 This NO2 is broken down to NO and O.\u00a0 The extra O can combine with atmospheric O2 to form O3.\u00a0 However, due to the<a href=\"https:\/\/www.oxidationtech.com\/ozone\/properties.html\"> short half life of O3<\/a>, it will quickly break down into O2 and O to form NO2 again.\u00a0 And the cycle repeats itself.\u00a0 This is an unhealthy pollution cycle that is difficult to break.<\/p>\n<p>When <a href=\"https:\/\/www.oxidationtech.com\/ozone\/ozone-production.html#answer2\">ozone is produced naturally<\/a> or <a href=\"https:\/\/www.oxidationtech.com\/ozone\/ozone-production.html#answer5\">commercially<\/a> it is produced from oxygen and quickly breaks back down into oxygen.\u00a0 However, when ozone is produced from the chemical reaction of the smog cycle, this is not the case.<\/p>\n<p><a href=\"https:\/\/www.oxidationtech.com\/products\/ozone-monitors\/handheld-ozone\/aeroqual-series-500.html\">Ozone is commonly measured <\/a>in air along with NO2 as these are the easy to measure pollution levels.\u00a0 Also, it is<a href=\"https:\/\/www.oxidationtech.com\/ozone\/safety.html\"> ozone that is an unhealthy gas that causes safety issues at the lowest levels <\/a>in the air.<\/p>\n<p>It is important to remember that when ozone is produced from smog, this is bad ozone.\u00a0 However there is still good ozone that has useful application in <a href=\"https:\/\/www.oxidationtech.com\/applications\/agri-food.html\">food processing<\/a>, <a href=\"https:\/\/www.oxidationtech.com\/applications\/water-treatment\/drinking-water.html\">drinking water treatment<\/a> and <a href=\"https:\/\/www.oxidationtech.com\/ozone\/ozone-production.html#answer2\">the ozone layer.<\/a><\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>According to the
