Air Dryer<\/strong>
When making ozone, it is essential for long term reliability and good quality ozone that the ozone generator be supplied either with dry air or oxygen. If operated without an air dryer, this generator would gradually fail to produce ozone because the moisture and nitrogen would form a residue of nitric acid inside. The air dryer is simply a canister of desiccant beads that absorb the moisture before the air is pulled into the generator. Periodically this desiccant needs to be dried out in a low oven.

Air pump<\/strong>
An air pump is needed between the air dryer and the ozone generator to pull air through the dryer and through the ozone generator. If a venturi is used, then the air pump is not needed because the venturi will create suction that will pull the air through the dryer and ozone generator. If a diffuser is used, you will need an air pump of sufficient power that it can push ozone through the diffuser at the lowest depth of your pond. Ozone generator<\/strong>
Ozone generators are sized by how much ozone they make in grams per hour. Some ozone generators are designed to work only with oxygen as a feed gas, and others can use both. In general, they will make 2-3 times more ozone with oxygen. A small oxygen concentrator like the Max 5,8, or 10 work well to supply oxygen needs. https:\/\/www.oxidationtech.com\/max-5.html An oxygen concentrator has a small oil-less air compressor and a set of valves that supplies air to the zeolite sieve beds which remove nitrogen from the air and provide oxygen.
The VMUS-4 ozone generator https:\/\/www.oxidationtech.com\/products\/ozone-generators\/k-series.html along with a VMD-8 air dryer is a very robust and versatile ozone generation combination. It is commercial quality equipment that will provide years of service. Components are manufactured in North America and completely serviceable. The ozone generator comes standard with a flow switch that turns the ozone on when it detects the flow of feed gas. This can also be ordered with the flow switch deactivated so that the unit produces ozone whenever it is on.
The HTU-500 https:\/\/www.oxidationtech.com\/products\/ozone-generators\/dg-series.html is a smaller ozone generator of excellent quality. This series has a double quartz dielectric that provides very clean ozone and is very tolerant of cell contamination and can be cleaned out if needed.

Ozone tubing<\/strong>
Sensitive ozone generating equipment can be located in a clean dry environment while the ozone is plumbed out to the koi pond. Teflon tubing is well suited for ozone. https:\/\/www.oxidationtech.com\/products\/accessories\/ozone-tubing.html Most other types of tubing will quickly get brittle or decay with ozone.
