Replacing the UV-100 Lamp

Loading...

1 - Remove back of UV-100.

2 - Gently pull out right hand circuit board releasing any cable and tubing connectors that may be required to release the board. Note where these connections were. Also note that this circuit board goes in the 8th enclosure slot (top and bottom) from the right.

3 - Find the 11 cm X 6 cm X 3 cm black plastic block on the circuit board and remove the screws holding it to the board. Note which connector mated with which connector such as by uniquely coloring a dot on each with a color felt pen.

4 - Open this plastic block in which is sandwiched the lamp, lamp power supply, gas cell, and detector assembly. These are all extremely delicate and sensitive parts.

5 - Remove the lamp and its attached power supply and replace it with the new lamp and power supply.

DO NOT TOUCH THE OLD OR NEW LAMPS. FINGER OIL WILL CHANGE THEIR CALIBRATION! (If this happens, see below).

6 - When installing the new lamp, be sure that wiring will not be pinched between the halves of the block when it is sandwiched back together.

7 - Reassemble the instrument.

Note: If the lamp surface has been contaminated by finger oil, the lamp surface should be carefully cleaned by a solvent that leaves no residue. We recommend 99.9 % pure methanol (Sigma Aldrich 270474-4L or equivalent). .
