Body Odors
People/Body Odor Removal with Ozone
Body odors are a problem that everyone has to deal with. Most people assume that sweat in and of itself causes individuals to smell foul, but this is a common misconception, the odor arises when sweat comes into contact with bacteria on our skin. Of course this isn’t the only cause of body odor, there are also many different factors that can contribute to the smell of body odor like age, diet, and even stress. Being as there are people everywhere, naturally, people’s body odor is also everywhere, which makes this a difficult issue to try and tackle. However, there are a few places where the smell may be more persistent.
Where Body Odors are Commonly Present:
Considering factors like sweat and age can intensify body odors, places like gyms or schools can benefit the most from using ozone to control smells. For the most part, buildings where people gather in large numbers would see the most upside when it comes to getting rid of odors with ozone. Because of this, commercial, indoor venues would have the highest financial incentive, but residential homes could also greatly benefit from this information. (As anyone who raised a boy through puberty can tell you).

How to Remove Body Odors:
Using ozone to get rid of body odors is a simple process. If you are looking for a short-term solution, make sure there is no one in the area that you are ozonating, and run your ozone generator (please contact us for more information on the area you’re ozonating and the most efficient ozone production needed). If you are looking for a more long-term solution, it may be beneficial to use an HVAC ozone generator. This would give you the capacity to hook up an ozone generator to your HVAC unit and ozonate an entire building while maintaining a safe and consistent ozone concentration.
As most of the areas described above are larger buildings, it can be difficult to determine how long it will take to eliminate the odor. For trying to predict duration times for odor removal, the odor strength and the size of the area you’re deodorizing will be the main factors. The stronger the smell and larger the area will result in the process taking longer. When removing body odors with ozone, you can expect that it will take at least 2 days, but may take up to 2 weeks in extreme circumstances.
Cautions:
It is extremely important to note that ozone, while indoors, at high levels, can become harmful to breathe in. It is also probable that to properly get rid of an odor with ozone (in smaller spaces) you are going to need ozone levels above the safety concentration (according to OSHA: workers should not be exposed to an average concentration of more than 0.10 ppm of ozone for 8 hours). Because of this, please make sure that there are no people or animals in an area where high concentrations of ozone are going to be present. For tracking ozone concentrations while you eliminate body odors, we recommend using a handheld ozone monitor which you can find here.
