The IOA (International Ozone Association (IOA-PAG)) brings together experts from around the U.S. and the world each year to share knowledge and advancements in ozone technology.
The IOA is a nonprofit educational and scientific organization dedicated to collecting and sharing information, as well as promoting research on ozone and related technologies.
On Monday, Joshua Lipetri and Chris Heronemus attended the Ozone Basics Workshop, where they gained a solid foundation on what ozone is, its wide range of applications, and why it plays such an important role in so many industries.

From Josh
- IOA Show – Day 1: Ozone Basics Workshop
- The biggest takeaway from day one was understanding the rate of decay of dissolved ozone in water, which is critical for system optimization. The hands-on session using both the indigo gravimetric method and Hach ampule method demonstrated how ozone levels change as water moves through contractors, providing invaluable practical knowledge for tuning ozone systems to maintain optimal concentration ranges. As someone new to the ozone field, this direct experience with testing methods will be essential in assisting customers in optimizing systems.
- Much of the day’s discussion focused on municipal water treatment systems that handle large volumes of water. Coming from outside the industry, it was eye-opening to see the extensive research and expertise dedicated to replacing harmful chemicals with ozone-based solutions. The level of innovation in developing complementary methods that work alongside ozone to achieve optimal results demonstrates the industry’s serious commitment to finding safer, more effective water treatment alternatives.
- Not only is there a lot more me to learn being new to the industry, there are a lot of untapped uses for ozone. It is very exciting to be apart of a growing industry that can have huge beneficial impacts on the world of disinfecting and water purification.
