Hydrogen Chloride MSDS

What is Hydrogen Chloride:

Hydrogen Chloride is a toxic, colorless gas that forms white fumes upon contact with atmospheric water vapor. Hydrogen chloride is a strong corrosive acid that is a major component of gastric acid. It is used widely in chemical laboratories as a reagent. Exposure to heat or flame will cause a container of hydrogen chloride to explode.

Hydrogen Chloride Exposure and Health Risks:

Hydrogen Chloride is highly corrosive. It is very dangerous if inhaled, causing irritation to the respiratory system that can lead to coughing, choking, inflammation, and pulmonary edema. In extreme cases, exposure can cause circulatory system failure and ultimately death. Direct contact will cause severe burns, ulceration, and scarring. Chronic exposure has been reported to cause gastritis, bronchitis, dermatitis, photo-sensitization, and dental erosion.
