Kynar Barbed fittings offer a secure and positive seal when used with FEP Ozone Tubing.  Use only thick wall tubing with 0.060” wall thickness or greater.  FEP tubing will push over the barb with effort and remain secured to the barb.  Plastic snapper clamps can be used to clamp and hold the tubing to the barbed fitting.

Kynar fittings are known for being extremely durable and have outstanding aging resistance when used with ozone. PVDF is a durable and corrosion resistant thermoplastic with the largest working chemical range and impact strength over twice that of PVC. This material can withstand harsh prolonged mechanical abuse with properties that remain constant after several years. PVDF is fire resistant, given the highest rating in the Underwriter’s test which indicates that it is non-flammable and self-extinguishing. Fittings made from this material have a working temperature range of -40°F to 250°F. PVDF is resistant against strong inorganic and organic acids, aliphatic and aromatic hydrocarbons, and halogenated solvents. It is FDA compliant, non-toxic and suitable for repeated contact with food products. 

Install Tips:

FEP Ozone Tubing is ridged and pushes hard over the barb fitting when the proper size tubing and fittings are used.  This provides a firm and secure seal.  However, can be a challenge to install.  Heating the FEP tubing with a heat-gun slightly will make this task easier.  After the tubing cools the seal will be excellent.

When using oxygen tubing such as the Polyethylene FX tubing the tubing is more pliable and will push over the barbed fitting much easier.  Therefore, we suggest the additional use of a clamp to hold the tubing in place.  The plastic snapper clamps are an excellent option for this.

The male threads of these fittings (if applicable) should be wrapped in Teflon tape and lubricated with Teflon paste prior to threading into the female fitting adapter.  We suggest the use of high quality Teflon tape and paste to prevent any ozone leaks
