CHEMetrics Vacu-vials self-filling ampoules are a great way to test for dissolved substances in liquid. Unlike our visual test kits, the Vacu-vials test kit allows you to obtain an instrumental result using the CHEMetrics Direct-Redout Photometers or any spectrophotometer capable of accepting a 13m diameter round cell. When using equipment from another manufacturer, set the spectrophotometer to absorbance mode, select the wavelength specified by the Vacu-vials kit instructions, and follow the test procedure. The K-7423 Ozone Kit is designed to accurately measure the levels of Ozone in water from 0-5.00 ppm.

Safe and Reliable Results

While traditional methods often require multiple steps and thorough preparation, these test kits allow you to obtain dependable results with a few simple steps. By simplifying the testing method, Vacuvials test kits reduce the potential for operator error. Additionally, each of the ampoules contained in the test kits is vacuum sealed which helps eliminate the problem of obtaining inaccurate results from stale or unstable reagents. These reagents are stored right in the tip of each ampoule and sealed in glass, thereby minimizing direct contact with the chemicals.

Method

The K-7423 uses the DPD Method. Potassium iodide is added to the sample before analysis. Ozone reacts with the iodide to liberate iodine. The iodine reacts with DPD (N, N-diethyl-p-phenylenediamine) to form a pink color. Results are expressed as ppm (mg/L) O3.
 

Ozone is a strong oxidizing agent and is used as an alternative to chlorine as a biocide in the disinfection of drinking water. Ozone is used to remove odor, decolorize, and to control algae and other aquatic growths. Ozone is also used in various disinfectant/sterilization processes in the food & beverage and pharmaceutical industries.

 

How to use:

1. Add 5 drops of Activator Solution to the empty sample cup. 2. Fill the sample cup to the 25 mL mark with the sample to be tested, being careful to minimize turbulence.
3. Immediately place the Vacu-vial ampoule tip-first into the sample cup. Snap the tip and the ampoule will automatically fill. 4. To mix the ampoule, tilt it from side to side, allowing the bubble to travel from end to end.
5. Dry the ampoule and wait 2 minutes for color development. 6. Insert the Vacu-vial ampoule into the photometer, flat end first, and obtain a reading in ppm.
