Overview
Our service team went on site to evaluate preexisting equipment with hopes of us leaving with the knowledge to fix it and operate effectively. Our task was to evaluate these 2 older, dust-covered, systems to determine the options for the customer moving forward.
After speaking with the place, they expressed their desire to get the older system in working order. We walked through both systems discussing their current state, history, and their expectations for Oxidation Technologies. After those conversations we could determine feasibility of getting them running and reliable.
Their team then came down and were able to get more history of the equipment and issues that happened when they attempt to fire it up. This was very much uncharted territory
for them as they have not been run in tandem with the new systems.

The Process
We attempted to fire up the first of the generator with little success. There was a lot of bouncing back and forth between switches, valves, and the HMI to correct faults. After
about 45 minutes of changing valve positions, we did not succeed. It came down to one O2 flow sensor that had failed (manufacture date of 2004).
We then moved on to the second generator. The valves were opened, power supply turned on, and after a brief 3 min purge of O2 the generator woke up from its years of
sleep. This was the first time in 2 years that ozone production had happened out of the “relics”.
We let the second generator run for a few hours and took a break for lunch. When we returned the generator was running flawlessly, and the controls between the new and old system balanced the ozone production between both systems. This was uncharted territory for Dekalb, and we believe it helped solidify the reality that this may be a cost-effective
solution to be refurbished rather than spending the money to replace.
Conclusion
There is still quite a bit of work that needs to go into getting both generators up to a standard of acceptable and reliable. This will be a fantastic opportunity for us to make
an impression on the water treatment industry. We are looking forward to the challenge and eager to learn from this experience.
